Abstract
Dr. Stählin was already well known as en explorer of Thessaly and as a serious student of its topographical problems. [...] In this book he has followed these principles and produced a work of the first importance on Thessaly. He has woven into one narrative the scanty references to Thessalian topography and geography in ancient literature, the evidence provided by the extant remains and the information to be drawn from numismatics and epigraphy. No future student of Thessalian problems can afford to overlook this book. It is, of course, probable that no one will agree with all his conclusions, and that fresh discoveries, especially from excavations, will overthrow some of them.[...] [ A. J. B. Wace (1925). Review of Friedrich Stählin 'Das Hellenische Thessalien: landeskundliche und geschichtliche Beschreibung Thessaliens in der hellenischen und römischen Zeit' The Classical Review, 39, pp 137-138. doi:10.1017/S0009840X00035642. ]
